[SOLVED] Re-install my current disk after accidentaly reset

Hi.

Mybe I was in the moon at this moment but in stead of power down my unit with the front button, I made a reset with the back button .. !
I've read somewhere else on this forum that my Datas are not lost at this time and that I can recover them with a windows software or directly on a linux distrib.

But is it possible to do this with the DNS-320 itself ?
It would be more easy to handle the problem like this I guess.

Did someone faced this stupid situation like me ??

Hi,
Unless something failed, your data is still there.  Just login to the 320 with the default user and pw and go about reconfiguring your users and settings.

Thanks for answer.
Fortunatly, the DATAs are still there, I've check it on another linux server.
But when I connect to the DNS320, It sees the disk but only propose me to build and format it !
The message shown (I don't remember it exactly) contains the word "Fromat" so I don't wana try to click on it, but perhpas it alloaws to reintegrate the drive without format it ...
i think I will try whit an old drive to see if it format it or not, but perhpas some of the guys here know exactly what it does in fact .. ?

If you are getting a message like that from the web user interface (default IP is 192.168.0.32 which you put in your browser as http://192.168.0.32) then you must have done more than just press the reset button.  All the reset does is wipe any custom settings for network shares or any other setting you have changed.

If, on the other hand, you are getting that message because you are using something like windows explorer or network places that usually mean that the network shares are not setup correctly an you need to use the web UI to recreate your settings.

Since you can read your data on a Linux machine now is a good time to make a backup of it just in case you do have to format the drive.

Hi Ivan,

Yes I get this message from the web UI. The exact message on the button is "Set RAID Type and Reformat" like when you insert a drive for the first time.

BUT ... I have found the solution !!!

When you reset your Unit; you have to insert another drive in the right side (the same as your initial disk) and format it as proposed by the web interface. When it's done, just shut down the DNS320, remove the newly formated disk and replace it with your original drive (with plenty good DATAs on it :-). Then boot the unit and you will see all your stuff back in the right place !
The rest of the actions are then easy, add users, groups, shares etc etc

Thanks for your answers anyway, this helped me to look in the good direction ^^
