General question - Virtual Server / Port Forwarding
« on: November 21, 2014, 01:39:30 AM »

Could someone help me understand if there’s any difference between  ‘Virtual Server’ and ‘Port Forwarding’ configuration on DIR 615  for Wake-On-LAN to work  (Scope restricted to router operations only)

I find that my DIR 615 responds to Wake-On-LAN packets sent over Internet only when it’s configured under ‘Virtual Server’ and not under ‘Port Forwarding’.
I am setting UDP Port  9 to be redirected to LAN PC IP   (DHCP IP is reserved for that PC)

Virtual Server has a range of ports. Port Forwarding only allows for one port at a time.

There is a WoL FAQ in the router faq section with some set up info. Might look at that and see, if you need more help and info.
