No remote phones near the router.
I have since traded in the wireless gateway (Comcast XB3 for those wondering) for an Arris TM722G (straight D3 modem). This has been nice since I have my router functions back (most notably port forwarding). I had a lot of guests over for the holiday and there were about 15 devices on my network, rather than the usual 4. Historically this hasn't been an issue, but one of my laptops kept getting an IP address conflict message and had just terribly slow internet speed (< 1Mbps, normally I have 15-20). I looked in the router settings and it had unicast enabled, so I disabled it and this seemed to give every device on the network faster performance.
I did a firmware upgrade to the router about a month ago, and then 2 weeks after I got that new gateway, and then I noticed problems. I don't know which was to blame, the f/w upgrade or the new modem / gateway. My guests are now gone, so I'm going to wait and see if performance and reliability improves, if it doesn't I think my next step will be reverting to the 2.03 f/w. The 2.03 f/w also did not require reboots every time a setting was changed in the router, which I like.
I also wanted to mention that on the devices, it shows the DNS servers as 192.168.0.1, and then the 2 Comcast servers. Should my router be listed in there as a DNS server?
