What is the benefit of making "Etisalat DSL-2750u" universal?
« on: January 10, 2015, 10:35:23 AM »

I saw in http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61012 a user asking how to make the router Universal. Pardon my question, what is the benefit I get by making the router universal. I too have the same router, but mine is my own but a friend bought to previously and gave it to me. What I mean to say is that its not under the ISP warranty. So I am curious to know will I get extra benefit by making it universal.

If your ISP modem came from the ISP themselves, then the modem HW belongs to the ISP and can't be modified in any way as it would break ISP use policy. If you bought a DSL modem from a retail store or online store, then the modem FW is loaded with D-Links OEM FW and not a ISP FW. The differences is that the ISP handles there own FW development for there ISP services that a specific to there Service. D-Links FW is developed for most of not all ISP services in different areas.
