323 temp 116°F / 47°C
« on: July 01, 2009, 10:16:42 PM »

Hi,

Sorry for the newbie question all.

This is my second unit. The first unit I had to return due to the fan not working plus some other issues.

This unit has been working fine for some time now. I have installed 1.7 and I have a single 1 tb seagate drive working on slot 2.

My question is this, due to the low temp now in NJ, I've notice a System Temperature of 116°F / 47°C in the device info read out.

Please advice if this is normal, I believe it's not but not sure.

At what point is the fan suppose to kick in and cool the unit?

The fan does turn on at boot up or when it wakes up but I don't really hear it turn on for a longer duration.

I have my DNS 323 connected to my MBP laptop on my home network.

I have disable hibernation and sleep on the drive because I normally stream my I-tunes library.
That's the main reason for the drive, I use it externally to store my i-tunes music.

If I don't turn those things off then my stream app simplify media will not pick up the tracks when I access the i-tunes library remotely from my iphone for streaming.

Please if anyone would like to chime in on this I would be so grateful.

Thank you for you help.

Michael.

That seems about average for the threads I have been seeing.

I know there were better ones, but I am lazy.  At any rate, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Note for those living under the imperial system, °F=(((°C*9)/5)+32) or the opposite °C=(((°F-32)*5)/9).

43°C = 109.4°F
46°C = 114.8°F
49°C = 120.2°F

I know this all was pointless, but it came up in one of those threads.

Sounds good,

Thanks for the links, know I'm a bit more informed and relax.

Very grateful for the info.
