Statip ip set and DMZ
« on: May 12, 2009, 03:19:18 PM »

Recently set a static ip for my PS3 and also put the PS3 in the DMZ and did port fowarding for COD5 world at War provided by Activision.  I do not know alot about routers.  Should I have the PS3 in the dmz or take it off dmz?  Will my ports still be fowarded with static ip still in place when its out of the DMZ.  The reason I did this is because I everytime I am in the COD5 lobby it takes forever to find a game with friends and sometimes I lose all friends and have to reinvite them.  It still does the same thing.  I would have posted this in consoles but there isnt even one topic on anything in there.  Please help me out with DMZ question.  This may sound silly but when its in the dmz does this mean the router doesnt prioritize packets sent to the PS3??  Upnp is enabled also and SPI is off.  I also noticed that when i do to my dlink dgl4500 page I see my tivo and the other computer under scroll down computer name.  MY ps3 however is not listed.

DMZ stands for de-militarized zone.  You are pretty much exposing every port on the PS3 to Internet traffic.  It's an easy way of opening up the ports, instead of defining a rule for it.
