Resetting DIR 655
« on: July 14, 2015, 11:36:33 AM »

What is affected when I use the reset button on my DIR 655 to reset?  I have lost the password and need to do something to go in and change the settings.
I am not sure if I can access the router if I reset it.  I assume I can because you have to access to do the changes.  Am I correct?  Is there a way to find the password without doing this reset?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Resetting the router will clear all configurations and PWs. You can setup the router again using the routers web page and setup wizard. Check for DSL PPPoE ISP connections as these configurations will be cleared when resetting the router as well.
