What are the differences between 825 and 855?
« on: December 25, 2009, 09:36:31 AM »

I am going to buy a HD TV and a ASUS O!Play Air HDP R-3. I already have a DNS 323. I will need to upgrade my wireless router. Can someone tell me what are the differences between 825 and 855?
BTW, I am a Mac not a PC.
TIA

a mac is a pc, running osx and/or/instead of windows.

difference between 825 and 855 is basically just the lcd screen, price tag, and "gamer" marketing demo. if you want extra monitoring gadgets on the router then get the 855, otherwise there's no point, 825 is practically the same thing just cheaper. personally I would rather use software to monitor those kind of things, so I got the 825.

look here if you want to compare features, you'll find they're virtually identical save the flashy lcd screen:

I think they got different benchmarking #'s. If I remember correctly the 825 was more stable.

I have the 825, no complaints, but I'm not doing anything fancy, either. Piece of advice though - streaming from the DNS-323 is so much smoother over gigabit lan.
