Antenna Replacement
« on: May 15, 2015, 11:39:22 PM »

Can the stock antenna be replaced with a more powerful one?

If so how to find out which antenna is compatible with it.

Thank you.

The antenna are removable I believe. Not sure what other 3rd party antennas would be compatible though. You might want to phone contact D-Link support and ask...

Hello,

Sorry to dig the topic, but I am interrested and it's the same problem.
D-Link tells me that it is possible.
I think putting antennas 8 or 14 dbi.

Have you seen difference ?

Thanks.

What happens if you lower the resolution of the cameras? Still freezes?

Can you disconnect the DAP and connect the camera to the main host routers wifi and test? I presume if you still see the same problem, the camera maybe at fault here...

Cameras on the main router is the old configuration.
I had many problems of disconnection with cameras on the main router.
It's for the reason I pass by another AP. With a Trendnet or my D-Link, I have no problem of disconnection. Sometimes The camera at the 1st floor disconnects. But with the two others cameras I have not disconnection.

I have interchanged the camera 1 and 2, and I have the same problem on the camera 2 at the 1st floor.
With the 2 cameras in the same room of the DAP, no problem.
The 2 cameras at the 1st floor, sometimes the cameras freeze.
It's the same problem in 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

I have between -70/-80dbm at the 1st floor.
That is why, I think changing the antennas.

Any chance of moving the DAP to a different location and closer to the cameras?

Seems like this maybe a signal issue...
What channels is the DAP using?

It's the better location for the DAP and the 3 cameras. The DAP is in the middle of the 3 cameras and there is no obstacle. I tested with Wifi Analiser and I have better results at this location.
It's the channel 44. Same problem with 36, 48, etc. and there are not other network at 5GHz.

Ok. Not sure if this is a DAP or camera issue or a combined problem between these units.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. I would start with the camera group first...
Let us know how it goes please.
