Not volume after reset factory :(
« on: December 08, 2015, 07:17:49 AM »

Hello everyone ;)

I have a D-LINK DNS320L with 2 DD (+ 1TB 2TB) in JBOD
I did a lot of testing and handling of this NAS is why I wanted to reset the system to start on a good foundation.
The worry is that after restoring the volumes do not go back ........ :( the past led the nas are orange.
I have access to my NAS via HTTP but I like my DD way again.
Do you know if there is a manipulation to boost JBOD volumes?
At worst an app that allows me to see the volume on my windows or even linux.

thank you in advance for your assistance

I think I understand what you are saying and it would appear that the disk indicator LEDs are showing that there is a problem with the disks (orange LED).

That could be caused by, either the reset was interrupted by loss of power (in which case do it again) or there is a problem with the disks themselves or the disk subsystem of the unit.

Check the disks are correctly seated in their connectors, power off first (they can get dislodged if the unit is turned upside down - also if you remove them mark which slot they are in before removing).

Once you are sure they are seated correctly power up the unit again and check the disk LEDs.  If they turn blue then everything should be restored.  If they don't then let us know and I will give you several tests to check if it is the disks or the unit itself (also, if you have a spare SATA drive you could try replacing one from your NAS with it just to see if the indicator LES turns blue).

What colour are the disk LEDs now?

If they are still orange then that show there is a fault with either the disks or the disk subsystem in firmware or hardware.  If that is the case and your unit is still under guarantee then you should consider returning it for replacement.

If the disk LEDs are now blue  what do you see using the web UI under 'Management' --> 'System Status' concerning the disks?

I think what he is trying to tell is he had everything working and messed up some configurations so he wanted to "reset" the user configurations he did to the NAS and to restore the settings back to factory defaults he did a FULL FACTORY RESET which wiped the ext4 partition so there is no longer data in the drives and aren't working, thus orange LED indication he needs to enable and format the drives.

That's my guess.

lunytunes, do you want to recover the partition with your files? or do you want to continue the fresh new install? if so go back to the quick start guide and start from scratch. Also read the manual.
