The DHCP address is reserved or not?
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:50:38 PM »

Hi,
I need to reserve my Xerox 3315 printer IP address not changed. When I set it in "ADD/EDIT DHCP RESERVATION" block, save it, then it shows in block "DHCP RESERVATIONS LIST :". But it will disappear when I press F5 to refresh the web page. I don't see the reserved IP address (I set) is memorized by Dlink 615 N300 router. BTW, I have updated its firmware. Now it is shown as:
Product Page: DIR-615
Hardware Version: E3     Firmware Version: 5.10

I suppose that it is the latest.

The example IP address is my PC in the following picture. It will disappear after I reload the web page. How do I know Dlink remember the IP address?
Thanks

Do you have the "enable" option checked? Also, is the printer set for DHCP? If you delete the reseveration, does it show under the "Number of Dynamic DHCP Clients"? If so, can you reserve by clicking the "reserve" button to the right? I am using this emulator for comparsion.

Also, I don't see any picture. Did you upload it?

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again. (For older generation routers.)
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, there is no picture, although I had insert the image link between previously.

Here is the web link:

OK. As your suggestion, I check and know that the printer is DHCP. Then, it is no use to reserve a static IP for it.
The problem is that the printer IP (DHCP) was given 192.168.0.100. I don't know what reason it was changed to 192.168.0.101. And my PC (original was 192.168.0.101) was changed to 192.168.0.100. This resulted the printer driver cannot see the printer. I don't see any method to fix it except change printer IP address manually now.

The relevant information on the problem is clear to understand now?

Thanks,

Suggestion, set a STATIC IP address ON the printer to something out side of the routers default IP address pool, i.e. 192.168.0.33 or .15. This will always have an IP address for the printer that doesn't change and then you don't have to set a reservation for the printer on the router. I do this for my 3 printers at home.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Now the problem is with how to set my printer (Xerox 3315) to static IP. Although its user manual (online or paper) said changing these stuff, I find no way to change it at all. It looks like fixed to DHCP. I would thank anyone can tell me change configurations on Xerox 3315 if who knows these.

Thanks again.

There should be a network setting on the printer where you can set either DHCP or Manual or Static. I'd refer you to the printers user manual or support site for additional help and information.
