Network Filter
« on: April 18, 2009, 09:14:16 PM »

I have been having this problem with the DIR-825 and hope someone here had this same problem and found a way to correct it.

I turned on the mac address filtering in the Network Filter setting under advanced button at the top of the page. When I turn it on to allow only computers listed there it does not give me the option to select only wireless computers. So I have it turned on and not only does it keep out any other wireless computers but also the ones on the LAN ports as well.

I have search the internet and contacted D-Link through email support as well and I am getting no where. I don't want to go back to netgear because there routers are junk had there first gigabit router 854t and it blew up on me twice so I don't want to go back to them or linksys. This router is awesome and has worked flawlessly since I got it. This is only a minor bug but  it is going to be a major pain because as I add both wireless and wired computers it will take up the 24 addresses in the router then I will be stuck if I need to add a 25th.

I hope you can help me with this. I looked at different settings and it wont let me set it for wireless only which is what I want. I am going to have more wired computers than wireless but I will still have a good many wireless and just don't want to run out of mac address filtering spaces.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

I will agree with geek.  With all the devices emerging that could depend on / utilize internet access, I am fast approaching the 24 device limit in the Network Filter settings.  And I'm just a household of 2 adults and 3 kids.  The Linksys I replaced this router with had a setting to allow ALL wired connections as secure and filters for wireless.

Hey DLink... can we expand the number of slots on the Network Filter page or include an option to allow all wired connections and re-naming this tab "Wireless Network Connections"?

Thanks.
