Currently have a DGL-4100 as my primary router via DSL modem. There is a switch attached to the 4100 for my office LAN. Want to add a DGL-4500 wireless router (which I presently own) to use as a WiFi A/P. I tried to configure by changing the IP address (of the 4500), adding a reserved IP in the 4100, and turning off the DHCP & UPnP (per the manual) in  the 4500. Had the 4100 & 4500 connected via the LAN ports. Not sure what to do about the internet connection settings of the 4500. Of course it didn't work. I'm not a network guru & this has got me baffled!! Are there any detailed directions I can download? I tried D-Link phone tech, and only wound up hot-swapping a bunch of my patch cables!!

first of all ... why do you wanna use the 4500 as a simple access point?? if you want an access point, get one ... but anyways - configs:

WAN-Side -> 4100 -> LAN-Port -> 4500

4500 wan-ip adress --> dhcp, reserve ip in 4100
4500 lan-ip adress --> different from 4100 (!!)
probably disable dhcp server in 4500

if you really WANT these both routers, i would place the 4500 in front and use the 4100 for more LAN ports ... config is analog

of course you can also just connect 2 lan ports --> waste 1 lan port, but probably less problems for you .... just try things out a bit

Reserve an IP on the 4100 that you will use for the 4500. Connect an ethernet cable to a LAN port on the 4500, set the routers IP address to the IP address you reserved, turn DHCP off and your good to go.
