need help, crashed my router
« on: August 07, 2016, 08:10:39 AM »

Tried to update de firmware of my DIR-615 (REV E3) this morning (for no particular reason) using Chrome browser, and it crashed hard. now there's only the orange power light on and can't do anything. I've done my homework and tried the emergency recovery procedure but it appears to be an unsuccesfful try. the power light keeps on flashing, but the emergency page is not loading. I did all the steps, turned off firewalls, static IP, installed firefox.. tried many times and never worked.

what more could I do?

  • What region are you located?

If you've tried the recovery process and it failed then we presume the router is bad and would need to be replaced.  :-\

I presume it needs to be replaced. Shame I wasn't closer, I just picked up a 615 this past weekend at a used parts store here for $8 dollars.

You might check Amazon and Fleabay for 2nd hand 615 units. I've found some good deals there as a suggestion.

I recommend that you follow the FW update process for doing any FW updates on any Mfr router.
