Need help creating a guest wifi network with Verizon DSL-2750B
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:53:50 PM »

So I went into the wireless settings and created a new virtual AP, set the SSID, and disabled security (for now). My devices can see the new wifi network and connect to it, but they fail to obtain an IP address. Connecting to the main wifi network works just fine. What am I missing?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your modem? Look at the sticker under modem.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the modems web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

I would review the user manual for this modem and see if there is any information regarding GuestZone. Check to see if Guest Zone wifi is supported on this modem.

Sorry, the manual that I found online says nothing about how to create virtual APs.

I looked around in the settings a bit more, and under "My Network, LAN, Bridging," I see that my new guest network shows a status of "Down", and neither the "STP" box nor the box to the left of the name is checked. I'm guessing this may be a clue to my problem.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional Verizon support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

I think I fixed it. On the 'Bridging" screen, I checked the box next to my new WiFi network and it started working.
