Local Backups and Network Shares
« on: March 05, 2017, 08:01:20 AM »

Hello,
I have a DNS320-L with firmware 1.08 and two major problems:

Firstly I can't set up or modify the Local Backups settings, this section just doesn't work. The first time I did manage to set up a local backup, but it doesn't show anymore in the list so I can't modify it. Also trying to create new backup schemes is not possible since the buttons are not working. I have tried with up to date versions of Chrome, Firefox and IE to no avail.

The other major problem is that I have set-up several network shares for several users and every time there is a power outage or the device is unplugged from the mains, the network shares settings are lost while everything else is kept.

This is quite a problem since this device is acting as a file sharing center and backup for a small business, they depend on it. It was supposed to be a solution, not another problem.

In advance for any help, Thanks.

Ok, searching this forum I've found that the web interface is broken and the local backups page only works accessing it from the link in "Applications".
Here is the thread where this is discussed: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65427.0

This still leaves me with the disappearing  network shares...

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

How long have you had the DNS for? I'm wondering if there maybe a on board battery that could be faulty...

...
Thanks.
I'm in Chile, I have had the DNS for about 4 months, and the problem with the network shares since day 1.  Also I thought it could be a faulty battery, but it's quite wierd thing that all settings are kept but the network shares. I will have to find the opportunity to test the battery voltage with a multi-meter since it means to obstruct the normal operations of the business.
I that regard: Is there any way to probe the battery voltage from the web administration, or maybe through ssh?

Not that I know of.

I only see v1.04 version for your unit for your region:
http://www.dlinkla.com/dns-320l

Not sure if downgrading would help.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
