I've been searching for a solution but have not found the proper config that works. I would like to use the Dir615 as an access point, for wired and wireless connectivity in a workshop located 150 feet from my house, and I have an ethernet cable running that distance from my dsl modem / router from a LAN port. My DSl modem router is 192.168.2.1 .. my ip range is set to 192.168.2.10 to .254  I want to keep the same SSID and password as is set on this router on my Dir615.

On the DIR 615 I have tried several configs, I've disabled UpNp and DCHP  , connected LAn port to Lan port.  told to configure the DIR 615 with an ip address not in use, so I thought I'd use 192.168.2.2,  however is this setting as simple as just changing the ip address within the "Network settings", or do I need to set this up within the "Internet settings"as a static IP under WAN , etc. and input gateway, dns etc.

I did have it working somewhat with simply disabling DHCP, using an existing ip address within the IP range discussed above, and using a different SSID and Password but it caused some IP conflicts with various computers and laptops. I'd like to use the same SSID

Thanks, that was one of the posts I've read and tried but still causes conflicts with the Sagemcom 5250.,, is there an alternate configuration  to try?

How do you mean "conflicts"?

If you are using 192.168.2.2 for the 615s new IP address and you connect the LAN cable from the main host router LAN port to the 615s LAN port, NOT THE WAN PORT, the 615 should work. It's how I had my 615 I found at a 2nd hand store last year, connected up until recently. The .2.2 IP address is out side of the main host routers IP address pool which is fine. I would recommend shortening the default pool to 192.168.2.100 thru .200 on the main host router though.

I will try that scenario again. Conflicts were various. Seemed to effect PC's and streaming boxes more so than iphones/Samsung phones. Computers in the house would connect to my house modem and add  suffix to the SSID and not have internet connection - BELLXXX 3. the Computers and laptops connecting to the access point would also have issues geting internet connection.

If my understanding is correct, according to you,  regardless of whether or not I want the same SSID and password or a different SSID and password on my access point, I must always use an IP address that the main router does NOT have assigned, correct?.(in my case 192.168.2.2.. because many posts contradict this. I've  read that if I want a different SSID, then I must use an IP within the range of the main router.

I think one critical step I left out was to reboot both routers. IS this correct?

My previous question was about where to make all of the config changes. There are 3 selections on the left screen of the setup. Internet. Wireless and Network.
I assume not to touch anything under the INternet tab, althogh there are numerous ip setting available, gate way etc.

I made my changes  under network tab ,  change the ip address to my open available router address,  192.168.2.2 setting, enter the SSID i want, channel, turn off DHCP, in advanced disable UpNp

As soon as I do this no longer can gain access to the router as 192.168.2.2    says it is unreachable. I can't get access to 192.168.2.2 ..
assuming I will figure that out,  .what are the next steps to configure the modem after this is done ?...
The manual for the DIR 615 also states once the above procedure is done to "To configure your wireless network, open a web
browser and enter the IP address you assigned to the router." ...So if the manual is correct, where can I find the settings to complete the access point configuration?...thanbk you for your help.

sorry for the multiple posts, but this is confusing to me.
Some of my confusion is what is being referred to as an "Available IP address".. According to the 615  manual, an available IP address is one that is configured  within the range of the main router, in my case 192.168.2.10 through 192.168.2.254 (I just re-comfirmed this). Furthermore I need to pick an IP address that is not currently in use, or I could power down the main router so none of these addresses are in currently in use.

However I have 192.168.2.2 through 192.168.2.9 that is not assigned to anything.

According to other posts, I MUST pick one of those open  and unassigned addresses .2 through .9 for this configuration to work the way I want it to.

Need to assign the 615 with a IP address OUT side of the default IP address pool that the main host router uses. So .2.2 thru .2.9 should work. You'll use this new IP address to access the 615s UI page when you need to.

The SSID and Channel on the 615 needs to differ from the main host routers SSID name and channel. Set the main host router to 11 and the 615 to 1 or 6. The password can be the same.

I would reboot both router and 615 after making changes.

Thank you, I got it to work.

The other issue of not being able to reach my ADMIN screen on secondary router after changing IP address and disabling DHCP was because the freakin network cable I was using from my PC happenned to be a straight through cable. duh,, so once those changes were applied, wireless connectivity within my network wouldn't allow access and of course the straight cable wouldn't work... duh... didn't realize I had a straight through cable in my collection. Sorry if I wasted your time and I do appreciate your help.
