Serious Issues With This Router
« on: July 12, 2009, 08:06:36 AM »

I have always been a supporter of D-Link products and have owned many through the years. When it was time to upgrade my DI-707 (which I have probably had for almost 10 years and has worked flawlessly) I purchased the EBR-2310. I have had nothing but problems with this router. It is constantly dropping connections and web pages are very slow to load, if they load at all.

I should have done some homework instead of just going with D-Link, at least in this case. It appears that there are a lot of owners of this router that are having the same issues. You can read about some of them here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=33-127-091&SortField=3&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=100&SelectedRating=-1&PurchaseMark=&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&Page=1&Keywords=%28keywords%29

I really like the features of the EBR-2310 and I want it to work as it should. I would rather not switch to another vendor as every networking product I own (and I own a lot) is a D-Link product. Is there anyone a D-Link looking into these issues?

I use some EBR-2310 and they work great... They are not really fast so don't plan to have a really big network...

It might be a heat problem... But with my little heatsinks on the router, it works flawlessly.

Hey...

Check out my issues in the wbr-2310 section of this board too. While I and many others have had lots of trouble with the WiFi part of that device, the irony is that the wired part of it has been rock solid all the time.

I think DLINK dropped the ball with these "G" type devices - and no, I don't think anyone at DLINK is doing anything about them, as the world is going WiFi with "N" type devices. I suspect they want these "G" routers to quietly die off... I'd just return it to the store and buy something more upmarket (read expensive), as they seem to work better than these more "lowly" devices in their product ranges.

Remember, no vendor is without problems. Everyone can have a batch or three that are "bad". Shame that DLINK let these stay out on the market so long....

By the way, I too really like DLINK gear from ages back. At work we purchased a lot of hardware (I have recommended about $100,000 of purchases of DLINK gear) from them over the years, mostly for wired hubs and routers, but we are now buying from other vendors due to QA issues, so it's not just these devices. Sorry DLINK, if I didn't have to I wouldn't, but you have to do what works, not what your heart tells you to do, if the purchase is a bad one.
