I had a lot of problems with samba using 1.07. I use XBMC to access samba shares on my DNS-323 and it did not work with the latest version of XBMC (9). With the beta 1.08 firmware these problems are gone. That's great. I hope these improvements stay in the final firmware.

I've been using XBMC for a long, LONG time, and it's never had a problem accessing SMB shares on my DNS-323, through firmware versions 1.04, 1.05 and, lately, 1.06.

So did I until xbmc 9 came out. The fix might be that 1.08 changes from samba 2 to 3.
