Setting Up A network Correctly
« on: August 10, 2009, 09:40:58 AM »

hi All,

Just buy the dir-855 a few days ago. Earlier i had a cisco 2621 as my internet router with a 2950 switch. Wife was complaining about to much noise in the living room so thats why i bought this 855. Few years ago i started with a simpel sweex. Reason im mention this earlier hardware is that i had no issues with the one i have on the 855.

Today i wanted to transfer a file from this pc to my laptop. The only message im getting is that it cant find the network path. I always made a network connection through internet explorer ( \\server\share ). Now i've spit the 855 all the way through but cant see something special which refers to my issue. Only thing i have enabled is the easy sharing of files option in explorer to be able to share my drives.

Any1 have a idea where to look or what to do..

TIA,

Supo

ps: have fixed it in the meanwhile. Strange that i cant access the laptop with the current user im working with while with the cisco all was working fine. have fixed it by making the same user on both this pc and the laptop. I can access my drives now from this pc to the laptop. haven't tested it vice versa but he one-way direction is fine for me for the moment...

cheers...
