Wireless connection problem
« on: August 16, 2009, 09:22:23 PM »

I just bought a Dir-625 to upgrade from DI-614+, but my laptop can't connect to the Internet using wireless

(1) However, moving back to the old D-link DI-614+ router, my laptop works fine either wired or wireless.
(2) With T1 wire, my laptop works fine to access the internet via Dir-625
(3) All other computers in my house can connect using Dir-625 without any issue either wired or wireless.
(4) My laptop (XP pro, 402.11g) uses Odyssey Clint manager (by Funk Software) to connect to wireless
(5) The Odyssey seems to connect my laptop to the Dir-625, but gives a strange IP address (beyond 192.168.0.xxx) such as 169.254.120.150.
(6) under Status -> Wireless of D-Link setup, I can see a MAC address, but IP address is "unknown" for my laptop.

Thanks very much.

I fixed (or avoided) the problem. I think it is due to some kind of incompatibility between Dir-625 and my Odyssey Client (by Fund Software) in WEP encryption mode, or the way I set the key, which enabled me "connected", but assigned a strange IP address (169.254.120.150). Once I disabled the encryption, everything works fine. WPA encryption works fine too, that is I am using.

Thanks everybody.
