DWR-953 disable 5Ghz band only
« on: December 16, 2017, 07:38:29 AM »

Hi

I'm using the DWR-953 HW A1 V1.01.

I've had problems with my weather station Netatmo loosing wireless connection, the system log was full of:
miniupnpd[6857]: no ifname =
miniupnpd[6857]: Failed to get ip address for interface
miniupnpd[6857]: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>upnp_redirect failed, r=-3
miniupnpd[6857]: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>upnp_redirect failed, r=-3
miniupnpd[6857]: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>upnp_redirect failed, r=-3
miniupnpd[6857]: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>upnp_redirect failed, r=-3

I decided to try to disable the 5Ghz band by unchecking the "Enable wireless" checkbox, is that checkbox global?  :o
The GUI gives you the impression that you can disable it per band.

My problem is that my router is physically 250 miles away  :(

That should be only for the radio that you have selected on. So if you have selected the 5Ghz radio, then it should only disable the one radio.

Hi!

Thanks for your answer, unfortunately the symptoms are like the whole WiFi was disabled.
Neither my Netatmo station, D-Link cameras nor Raspberry are reachable and since I was a fool not connecting my pi via cable, I'm sitting here with limited options.

My pi is configured to reboot each night, I'll check tomorrow if it has managed to connect to the 2.4Ghz band.
I was running the 1.01 FW, is that the latest for HW version A1?
I've had a lot of problem with Netatmo dropping WiFi, could it be upnp related?

What region are you located?

Let us know if you can get connected or not. You may need someone to go to the site locally and see if they can help you configure the router.

If you can get reconnected, try changing some of of the wireless settings, try single mode N, manual channel 11 if no other wireless signals are using 11. WPA2 and AES only or mixed TPIK and AES.
