Attaching a hard drive to the DPR-1260
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:46:10 PM »

Hello There,
I learned at http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=DPR-1260 that we can connect a computer or a NAS (network attached storage: external hard drive) to one of the USB ports available in DPR-1260. I did so but I can’t have access to the hard drive from the computers. Do you I need to install an extra utility/software so that the print server can read the hard drive? Please, help me!
I have a DIR-655 router with one USB to be used to connect a printer or a hard drive. But to do so I needed to install “SharePoint utility” software. It works nicely but the PC’s can access it just one at a time. I need to unplug one computer to connect another.
Regards,

The overview of specifications mentions that the Ethernet port can be used for that purpose, not the USB ports:
"The Ethernet port on the Print Server can be used as a wireless bridge. This provides wireless connectivity for any Ethernet-enabled device, such as a computer, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), or Network-Attached Storage (NAS) to the wireless network."

Has someone tested this function ?
