NOTE: This topic started as "Drive capacity wrong: 320GB, 85GB used, 10GB available???", but I have narrowed down the issue and am reposting it.
===============================
I am hoping someone can try to duplicate this problem, to confirm that it is not the fault of my system (I really don't think it is.) I back up three Vista computers (one running 32-bit, two running 64-bit) to my 323. Once backed up, the backed up folders cannot be accessed, no way, no how. I have tried everything, including managing permissions, beta firmware 1.08, etc. Not only can the folders no be accessed, but I cannot even read how many bytes are being used. In the previous topic, I thought my drive capacity was being incorrectly reported, but I now realize that the Vista backups were sucking up all my space but that space was not being reported; thus, I had very little space available even though I had used very little space.
Prior to purchasing the 323, I backed up the same computers to a network drive on a spare Windows 2003 server, also using the built in Vista backkup utilities. I have no problem accessing these folders, which are exactly the same as the folders on the 323 except for their location. In fact, if I copy the folders from the spare server to the 323, I can access the folder no problem, but when I back up directly to the 323, the folder are inaccessible. I eventually had to reformat the 323 and start from scratch, again backing up to the spare server rather than to the 323.
I would really appreciate it if someone would try to replicate my problem. Simply back up a small number of small files from a Vista computer over the network to the 323, and see if you can access the backup folder on the 323. WARNING: Try this with only a few small files, because if you get the same result as I get, you will be stuck with an inaccessible folder unless you reformat and start all over again.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, many thanks.
