I installed my new DIR-882 router last week, replacing an Asus AC-66U. I made no configuration changes to the default setup.
Environment: I am connected to Xfinity internet via my ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem. My internet connection is very stable, experiencing very few, if any, outages.
Devices: I have three Sonos speakers running on wireless, five Google Home devices on wireless - a Nest Hub, a Home, and three Home Minis. I also have ten TP-Link Kasa wifi lightbulbs, and a number of other wired and wireless devices. I had no random disconnects from any of the devices since installing the Asus in September 2012.
Issue: In the few days now with the DIR-882, the Google Home devices ONLY have been disconnecting from the wifi overnight, every night. All other devices remain connected. That said, I have experienced a few times now that my Google Pixel 3 XL will not automatically connect to wifi when entering my home. I suspect that the Google Home issues have something to do with Smart Connect, so am considering configuring the 2.4 and 5 GHz radios independently and seeing if that works. However, that seems drastic, and effectively disables one of the most important features that led me to buying this router in replacing my Asus. What else should I try first before doing this? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: my Google Pixel 3 XL never reconnects to wifi when re-entering my home. It takes a power cycle of the router, and then magically my phone and Google a home devices automagically reconnect all by themselves.
