Love the router, hate the adapter :P
« on: August 30, 2009, 01:51:26 PM »

Not completely, but here we go.

I have currently upgraded my router from a much old USR 802.11b router. Some old router eh :P To the D-Link DIR615. Mainly because A)It's N and B)It was on sale :) I use a 64xbit version of WinVista. My ISP is cox cable. So I am definitly using cable. I set it up about 30 minutes ago and got my LAN set up on my big gaming rig. Works perfectly fine. Now I set up my Linksys N adapter onto another computer who was using a G adapter that came preinstalled. Disabled and uninstalled the initial adapter and installed the Linksys adapter. Then I connect to my D-Link router. It recognizes the router, but recieves no internet access. So I fiddle around with some settings, and still nothing. Uninstalled the adapter, and reinstalled the original HP preinstalled adapter. The computer connects fine through that adapter, but not the Linksys adapter. Any specific reason why? And is it fixable? Also please use step by step instructions, mainly because I'm not big on how to change settings on routers etc after installation.

Thanks,
MrPhire

Which model of Linksys adapter?  Linksys also has a reputation of "flaky" drivers.  Head over the Linksys web forums for more help.
