Scandisk Bug 1.08.b5
« on: August 13, 2009, 03:41:38 PM »

Below is some of the basic information requested when posting.

Hardware Version:  A2
Firmware Version:  1.08 b5
Software Version (Easy Search): n/a

Harddrive 1:  ST31000340AS
Harddrive 2:  ST31000340AS

Problem Type:  Function does not work

Problem Description:  In the GUI, hit scandisk, it takes the array offline but doesn't restore it.  If, after it completes (and in my case, fails) you go to Windows Explorer, disconnect from the 323, then reconnect to the 323, it will show "1.66MB fre of 9.67MB" and shows an empty drive.  The hard drive status changes to:

Total Drive(s):    1

Volume Name:    Volume_1
Volume Type:    Simple
Sync Time Remaining:    Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity:    -1 MB
Used Space:    0 MB
Unused Space:    0 MB

When it should look like:

Total Drive(s):    2

Volume Name:    Volume_1
Volume Type:    RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining:    Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity:    981858 MB
Used Space:    749204 MB
Unused Space:    232654 MB

If you reboot the unit either via the power button or the Reboot button in the tools interface, is the unit restored?

Yes, it is restored after a reboot.  My bad for omitting that. :)

Just adding a reply to say this same thing happened to me.  I ran a SCANDISK and it completed, then said that I had 2MB free on each 1.5TB drive...

Reboot and my data was back.. but..  still a bit scared it hosed my data just based on the scary "disk space free" report in the web interface...

That would upset me as well, it took a couple of days to rebuild my backup after installing the new disks! :)
