Need help configuring I guess
« on: November 07, 2009, 08:42:02 AM »

Hey guys, I have hardware A1 with the new beta firmware.

I use the router mostly for wireless online gaming (WoW only), and it had been working fine for months on the 1.15 firmware until a about a week ago. Never disconnected, decent latency, etc. etc.   Then suddenly I started having a ton of problems, inlcuding:  huge lag spikes, disconnects ALL the time, latency that wouldn't go below 450.  It was virtually unplayable so i tried upgrading the firmware.  The router doesn't reboot itself at all anymore, but the wireless signal has weakened considerably.

The wireless settings have always been set to:  5.0Ghz, 802.11n, 20/40, Auto channel scan,  WPA-2 security with AES ciphering.

I tried changing the signal to 2.4 GHz (on every channel) to no avail.  I tried every channel on 5.0Ghz too.

Is there any reason why the random horrible performance or is there something I'm missing?  ???

I was going to post about this however you beat me to it. I'm not noticing the same issues with my MacBook Pro connected via 300Mb connection, using same wireless settings as you stated and posted. Seems like the connections are getting disconnected intermittently. I've been doing 200Mb downloads from the internet, getting good speeds minus weekend traffic from the servers I'm downloading from. However I noticed that I just came back from the office and looked at my MBP and found the wireless had disconnected and was in the process of reconnecting.

Any Help from d-link on this?

I'm thinking about going back to non 300Mb connection and see if it does the same thing.

Try using wireless G only mode?

I don't game over wireless so not sure if using wireless n Mode would work better. I do have a buddy in Oaklahoma and he's set up on Wireless G for his sons 360. They also has some issues with the 4500 until Beta 3 was released. Try Wireless G mode only and see what you get. He's setup on 2.4Ghz aswell.

Let us know what you find out. I'm going to try wireless G here and see if I get any disconnects.
