I got Shareport to stay connected!
« on: September 14, 2009, 09:19:53 PM »

I went into the setup under network settings and unchecked the "enable DNS relay" box and then reset the router.  Shareport has stayed connected and I have been able to print for 5 days without a reset. Shareport has never stayed connected for more than a few hours before.   I did this on a suggestion in another forum to get my Directv TV Apps to work with my D-Link dir-655 router.  It fixed that problem and also fix my problem with shareport.  I hope this helps others fix their shareport connection problem.

Had the same problem, and tried your advice. So far, 3 days with no problems to printer. I didn't have the router reset problems before, and don't have them after this change(for those who are wondering)

I have the shareport problem, but I am hesitant to use this option because I want all of my LAN computers to be able to access the internet without having to input a DNS server address into each computer's network settings.

Is that correct?  That if I turn off "enable DNS relay" that I will have to enter the DNS server address into each computer?

Update: Oct 6, 2009 (and final)
Shareport still working without rebooting router.  Good luck to everyone else trying to resolve the issue with their specific configurations.

Update: Sept 23, 2009
Maybe fixes must vary for different Dlink products and/or clients, but I am still working for 7 days with this one change: UNchecking "enable DNS relay".

Dlink 825
Windows Vista Ultimate, 64 bit

Like the others, I tried this and Shareport is working for two days straight (better than before).

As for DNS, I simply rebooted my computer and it resolved the DNS issues on its own during the connection process.  I don't know why you would have to do so by hand.

You don't have to manually enter the DNS into each computer. DNS relay does something else completely i believe. Just reset the router once and everything should be working. My printer is still connecting without reset since the first day I tried this. Good luck everyone!
