Passwords under 5 Characters

I am trying to connect a device that has a built in FTP client. Unfortunately the device has a hardcoded username and password. The password is 4 characters. Is there any way to get around the 5 character minimum for a password? Can newer firmware not have this requirement?

I am sorry but there is a minimum of 6 characters.
