Computers Don't See Each Other`
« on: September 18, 2009, 10:21:36 AM »

I got this router last December as a gift. I started out with one desktop and a laptop. Both devices connected to the router out of the box (no setup) and I had an instant LAN. I later connected a second desktop via ethernet cable to the router and it was seen immediately. I had no network problems at all until this past August when I moved. I connected everything the way it had been before. The only change is that I now have a different broadband modem connected to the router due relocating. I don't see where that would cause a problem though. Anyway, once in a while the two wireless computers (laptop and desktop #1) can see each other, but neither can see the wired desktop. The wired desktop can see the wireless desktop in the workgroups folder, but cannot access it. I have changed nothing since the original setup except, last weekend I updated to the latest router firmware. All DHCP is on, all devices have the same workgroup name, WAN Partition is unchecked, all firewalls are off (even though they never posed a problem before). ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,

Forgive me for asking this, but do you have the broadband modem plugged into the WAN port of the router ?
I am assuming it is, but its one of those things that can get overlooked sometimes...

Is your broadband modem for cable or DSL ?

Do you have DHCP active for all the pc's on your LAN ?  If so do they all show a similiar IP like  192.168.1.100  etc...??

same here, after 1.32NA, router does not honor lan hostname, always try to add dns suffix like hsd1.comcast.net to lan computer name.  (dns relay is on)
