Ah! 5Ghz, loves it.

Owner of the 655, I purchased the 825 to take advatage of the 5Ghz spectrum. Can say, I love the reliability. The numbers speak for themselves, and streaming HD content is excellent compared to the 2.4 Ghz spectrum. Didn't think it was true when they advertised it because company's advertise the ability to stream HD content on 2.4N networks, but in my experience, that is not the case, and who knows what HD content means to those company's.
I loves it.

I also have a 825 running G only on 2.4 and N only on 5.  My 655 is running N only.

The only downside to 5 is that there are certain places where I can connect to my 655 but can't connect t my 825.  Range is pretty poor.

Hi,

Quick question....  How does one run a .11N adapter at 5 GHz ?

I thought that only .11A adapters used the 5 GHz spectrum ?

Maybe I am just behind in my reading.... Thanks for any information you can provide...

You need an adapter that support wireless-n in 5GHz mode like the DWA-160 or Intel 5300

One thing that kind of stinks is that no one makes a PCI or PCIe that will work in 5Ghz.  Only cards you can add are USB really, and the antennas on those are tiny, which just compounds the problems of poor range.

yea, i'm a little disappointed that there are no dual band pci-e cards. USB sticks suck.

Hi,

I have a workaround for you....

Linksys WPC600N combined with a Cardbus to PCI Adapter (check on ebay about $10) will yield you a PCI based dual band wireless adapter....

Have no idea about range or anything....but it should get you what you wanted.....

Just my 2 cents...
