I believe you. Just don't make it sound generic.

My bad :-[

Anyways, I figured out a "solution" (for now, at least) for the portforwarding issue.. just use the "Reset to Factory Default" option, of course I had to set everything back up.. but portforward options save now :)

Now if only I could use DNS relay and the dynamic DNS updater together  ::)

I'm setting up a brand new DIR-655 (A4) router.  I'm planning to start with setup of the 1.2.1 firmware that shipped in the unit.  Trying to browse forums to see if there's some good reason to update Firmware to 1.32NA and what I read is that 1.32NA is somewhat flakey.

Are you saying that if I type in all settings on 1.21 then later decide to upgrade Firmware that I can't use the Saved configuration file feature of the DIR-655 but must re-key all settings?

Is 802.11b supported on Firmware 1.32NA.  Lots of threads about Firmware 1.30 on-again-off again, but I can't find any references to what the final resolution was.  Do you know if 802.11b works with 1.32NA?

Thank you!

I have a DIR-655 with 1.32NA and wireless B shows up as an option in the wireless settings. I believe the general consensus is you should setup all your settings manually after flashing to newer firmware. Then save a new config file after you are done. I wouldn't be in a big rush to flash to 1.32NA. Read some of the treads in the Shareport section. 1.32NA broke Shareport for me and caused some stability problems for others.

@rockbottom: Have u tried reflashing? I'm on 1.32 and the DIR-655 Dynamic DNS updater works as it should for your reference. I think you got a bad flash. Reset your settings to factory default, flash again, then set it up by hand again. Now you can save the new configuration file if you want to restore in case you mess up for the same firmware version.

BTW, sorry if my details explanation offended you. It's my job habit kicking in. When the same configuration works for me, and not for a user the first thing I thought of is this user's error, obviously. A way to rule out this is to give as much details as possible so the user can do it so. If there's still problem, I'll consider other possibilities then.

@bigeyes0x0
You're fine. I've administered an open-source community, programmers have the worst egos ever.. haha, I'm sooo used to it!

I haven't had the time today to fiddle with it, but I am going to re-flash it to see if that fixes anything. I'll report back once I do.. /pray ;D

alphanumeric: Thank you.  I've been running all day on 1.21 and will stay with it for a while as it seems to deliver what I need for my LAN.  Will test the Shareport later.  The Web interface works well .. by skipping the SW load on the provided CD and just doing what needed to be done, I got things working pretty quickly.

I'm so used to manually logging into my router I never even consider running the setup program from the CD.

I just redid everything from scratch in an attempt to get Shareport working. I downloaded a fresh version of 1.32NA and the 1.10 Shareport utility. Reset to defaults, flashed it to 1.32.na "again", and setup all my settings manually. I did not touch any of the hidden settings. Installed Shareport 1.10 and setup my printer. Only time will tell, so far it's been almost 24 hours and its still working. I won't be surprised if it quits again but it would be nice if it didn't.

Completely forgot to check firmware updates, router working well on 1.21 BUT, I was thinking of upgrading the firmware to 1.32NA.

Quick question, is a firmware update from 1.21 to 1.32NA OR should I do a 1.21 to 1.31 to 1.32NA and finally, is the 1.32NA firmware stable ?? only thinking of updating because I'm using UPnP and recently added a MAC mini to my network.

THANKS for any help

You can go straight to 1.32, but IMO if you don't have any problem with your current firmware UPnP included, don't upgrade as that might introduce problem.

Ok, I'm officially done with D-Link haha

I re-flashed my router (first I reset to default settings, then did the re-flash).. then I proceeded to set the routers IP address to 192.168.1.1, then set the DHCP range to 192.168.100-192.168.1.199, reboot, and behold! The router SOMEHOW came back up with the settings that I had before I re-flashed, what the hell?

I was able to portforward for like 15 minutes after I had re-flashed, then s*** hit the fan. I could edit the boxes but I could not check the enable checkbox (I could, but it wouldn't save). Then later I couldn't even edit the textboxes. So.. I'm done. This has caused me enough problems..

Good luck to you guys, I hope they fix their mistakes in the future.

PS- If you're wondering why I have to set my routers IP to 192.168.1.1, it's because my modems IP is 192.168.0.1, so there's a conflict there. Anyways, ttyl. WRT610N HERE I COME BABY!

You may have a faulty unit, oh well tolerance has its limit. I hope it will work out for you.

7 days and it's still working.
