DAP 1522 - Unable to Access Wireless settings
« on: March 21, 2010, 11:18:25 AM »

Hey all,

I've had this device running with my DIR-615 since November. Was working great in wireless N mode and everything until recently when my ISP's modem dropped connection and a family member decided to reset my router and bridge to see if they were the problem. Obviously, to me at least, they were not.

Now, after a day or so I finally for my DAP-1522 working as it  kept freezing/timing out whenever I'd try to set it up again. had to keep jumping in and out of the device to set up bit by bit until I finally got it all, and the connection stuck.

Now, though, I'm certain the speed is down to Wireless G speeds again, like they were when I first installed the device back in November. Back then, I just went to the Setup tab and went into the wireless settings to change everything.

This time though, I go to the wireless settings, and there's nothing there. Under the header "Wireless network Settings" there's about one line of white space and the box ends. No options, no telling which settings I'm on.

When I check the router to see what my connection is, it states 11NG, a rate between 1 and 5.5(depends on when I check it), and a signal strength of 100%. That's it.

I'm trying to stay away from setting the device up yet again, because I don't feel like spending hours trying to race through the setup in hopes I can make it, in case that freezing occurs again.

Has anyone had this problem before? Should I just bite the bullet and factory reset it, and go for broke again?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Did you update the firmware on either box before/after the reset, so that process is different to when you started out? The Web-browser is indeed a potential source of problems, accessing the web-pages.

Best guess is to start on a basic IE (not too many plug-ins), and has the switch (AP/Bridge) been moved?

I had similar issues with the same router and access point.  My fix is to make sure all computers on the wireless are turned off (or at least disconnected from wifi), then reboot the router, and then plug in the access point.  Once the access point is connected, I can connect all the laptops normally and everything is super fast.  It seems that G devices don't create problems when they are still connected though. I'm not sure if this fix works for others.

Maybe a stupid and obvious question: Is the AP/Bridge switch in the right position? Yes, I know... But still...

I have this issue with firmware 1.21 and Firefox browser. Works fine with IE.
It is a firmware problem (that was not present with FW 1.20).
I hope it to be solved soon because IE is only available under Windows...
