New wireless network card keeps dropping and reconnect
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:10:00 AM »

I have a DGL-4500 with firmware 1.15, WEP security, everything works great.  But I got a new Dell E6400 laptop with Intel 5100 AGN wireless card.  That new laptop will connect for a while and then randomly drop the connection.  All of my other equipment still works fine (xbox, wii, other laptops, macbook, etc).  I was told that the new wireless cards are more "sensitive". Anyone else having problems with new wireless hardware?

Had the exact same problem with that card in my Toshiba notebook.  What you want to do is search for an earlier driver.  The one provided by Windows is what causes this problem.  If you try the latest Intel driver, the problem still remains.  You might want to check Toshiba's site for an older driver.  The driver I used that I found on their site resolved the problem for me and that particular wireless card.

Edit:  The issue seems to be related to the 32bit driver only as well from my experiences.  I've never had any issues when running Vista x64 and the Windows driver or Intel's latest driver.
