WAN connection issues
« on: October 01, 2009, 12:35:54 PM »

I have a DIR-825 HW Version B1. It was shipped with the 2.00NA FW which I upgraded to the 2.02NA FW.

The WAN is connected to a hub, the hub is connected to a modem/router. I have a block of IP addresses (/28).

The LAN connections seem perfectly fine, wireless and wired connections have no problem seeing the router or each other.

When I configured the WAN all seemed well but after around 2 hours it stopped passing WAN traffic. I rebooted the device using the web interface, this did not resolve the issue, I pulled the power for 20 seconds on the router and when ti came back up it was again OK for about an hour. And this seems to be the pattern from here on out, I would resolve the issue through some sort of reset only to have the problem reappear after about an hour or so.

When this is happening I can connect just fine to the router from the LAN side, using the 'system check' tools it cannot even ping the GW.

I cannot manually set the WAN port speed, well I should say it fails to connect (as displayed ont he status page) if I set the WAN port on anything but AUTO.

I have replaced the modem with another DIR-825, same HW and FW version and the issue presented itself the exact same way.

I have other systems connected to this hub and they all work fine and have done so for years. This wireless AP is replacing a Link-Sys router that was working fine for years. I have rebooted everything from the modem to the hub to the router multiple times.

Have you tried to set the 825's WAN port to a "fixed" access speed instead of leaving it at "Auto."  Other posts, elsewhere, have suggested that setting the port speed can "fix" several WAN access / speed problems.
