Range Extender for DIR-655

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I've looked into replacing the antennas on the 655 with after-markets products.  However, after reading posts in this forum, I'm not sure if that is the best way to extend the range to the back garden (the router is near the front of the house and it's an all-brick contruction house).  In reading the posts about antennas, I did come across this company (Hawking) and noticed a product called the 300N Extender.  Has anyone have any experience or review of this product?  Is this a good option (instead of replacing antennas)?

Note that I would rather not get another router as a bridge because I'm very n00b   about networks and when I tried it last time (with some cheap $50 N-router), I screwed up my network.  This 300N Extender seems to not require any screwing around with the current network and can be set up independently?

I have the Hawking device you are talking about it and I'm still trying to figure a few things out.  Initially I had a pretty odd setup (multiple wireless routers, daisy chained via cat 5) so the setup took a few hours to get up and running.  The signal strength in my fringe area went from very low (40) to very high (99), but the connection seemed not capable of sustaining a steady stream of data.  I've since simplified the network (DIR-655 and the Hawking extender) and things seem better, but I'm still not getting the solid throughput I'd like.  Not sure if it is the extender, the D-Link or my new internet connection.

I will wait for it to go on sale up here (Canada).  Unfortunately, though there is a sale on amazon.com, they won't ship north of the border....in the meantime, I would love to hear more comments on this product's functionality and realiability.  Thanks!
