Author Topic: Remote Accessing DCS-6620G Cams - What is Correct HTML to Invoke Authentication  (Read 7821 times)

I have 2 new DCS-6620G 802g Wireless cams.

I have assigned each camera a static IP and one camera has HTTP port 1065 and the other has HTTP port 1066 assigned to it.  In my Linksis router, I have forwarded port 1065 to the static IP for one of the cameras and forwarded port 1066 to the static IP for the other camera.  For the streaming audio and video, one camera has ports 5002 and 5003 forwarded to its static IP and the other camera has ports 5004 and 5005 forwarded to its static IP.

If I am on my intranet, I can access the cameras by either typing in their local IPs into the open box on the File Menu of  Windows Internet Explorer or by using the IP Surveillance Software, no  problem, so far.

Each Camera has an administrator name and password that I have saved, using the IP Surveillance software.

When accessing on my intranet, either through IE or the Surveillance Software, there is a drop down box that opens to input the name and  password. This works fine on the intranet, both when hardwired through an Ethernet cable or through wireless.

The PROBLEM is that I can not remotely access the cameras either through IE  or the software, when I am outside of my LAN.

When outside of my intranet, meaning on the internet, when I enter my server name and the port number for either camera, I get back one of two error  messages: "401 Unauthorized, Authorization Required," or "Protected Object." The box for inputting either the administrator or user name and  password does not appear or open, and there is no option that appears to input a name and password.

This is not a port issue, or a server issue, as I have remotely tested the access to each camera by configuring each without admin/user name and without password access restrictions, and they appear in the remote browser screen fine when the host name and server name are input.

Also, I have done the remote access testing on units with Windows XP home,  and XP pro, both with service pack 3.  The browsers that have been used are IE 6, 7 and 8.  IE 6 seems to work the best.  The firmware on the cameras was just upgraded to 1.05.

So the question is: could any one  advise me what the proper html syntax or command sequences are  to open the server remotely to access the name and password box to enter the login credentials?

My remote access is setup as a Dynamic server, through DYNdns, so the format I have been using is:
http://hostname.dynamicservername.net:portnumber

The DYNdns update software is loaded and reports the current external dynamic IP so I have done the remote testing using both the hostname.dynamicservername format and by using the then current external IP reported by the DYN update software.

Could you please explain the correct sequence of the html entries in the IE browser's address line to invoke the login box so that I could enter the admin or user name and password to access the cameras remotely?

Thank you.
