825 to apple airport extreme

 ???  I finally got my apple airport (802.11g)to talk to the 825 router.  I had to turn off WMM (whatever that was) and for good measure I turned off Short GI as well then forced the wireless connection to be G only.  Can't tell which of those features made the difference but the Airport now connects.  Slow though.  previously the g network was running at about 130Mhz--now is 52?
Anyone have a better setup for the 'g' airport?
