NAS performance issues with DIR-825

I purchased a Seagate BlackArmour 220 NAS and attached it to a LAN port on the DIR-825.  Seems to be some serious bottlenecking either wired or wireless.  Takes at least 30 seconds to open a 500k jpg and likewise for other file types (xls).  Attached the NAS directly to my PC, no issue.  Attached the NAS to an old Linksys WRT54G 801.11g router, no issue. 

Performance issue seems to be limited to the DIR-825 only.  Any ideas?

To rule out the router, first check with your Gigabit computer to confirm that it's LAN connection is connecting to 1Gig Full Duplex automatically. Your NAS may not be auto-negotiating to Gig Full Duplex.

We don't recommend storage devices over wireless.

Also, security software may be hassling you transfers.

Firewall and A/V were disabled, ethernet card is not gigabyte.  But when attaching the NAS directly to the computer or through my old Linksys G router, there are no issues.  The performance issue seems to be limited to an issue specifically to the DIR-825 and NAS combination.  Other than this, I've had no issues with the DIR-825 when accessing files across my LAN.

Anything else I can try before calling D-Link tech support?

Personally I don't ever use A/V software, as they boggle-up the system and network up to 40%.
- Even if the option is disabled, the services still run actively in the background.

Calling our tech support will not get you a solution. Techs may not recognize the source of the problem.

Both the router and your NAS have gig ports. So far you have not confirmed if it properly negotiates the speeds beyond 100Mbps.

I'm sure that your DIR-825 has no problems negotiating at 1gig full duplex. All that remains is for you to contact support for your NAS. I would hope that your NAS has an option to set the port speed to fix 100 or 1000.

By any chance, do you have a Gigabyte switch?

I have the same router HW v A1), connected to an HP Media Vault (NAS) with no problems.  I did upgrade from firmware 1.01 to 1.12 NA and started having multiple problems.  I downgraded the firmware to 1.11 NA and problems solved.  I spoke with a product specialist at D-Link who mentioned the 1.12 NA had problems and recommended the 1.11 NA firware.  Version 1.11 NA is working fine here, including Shareport, NAS, VoIP and streaming Netflix.
