migrating disks to another NAS

I'm planning to migrate my disks (and data) to a Synology DS210j (2-bay NAS). I have a DNS-323 with 2 disks in RAID1 (mirror) and I have no extra empty disks available.

This sounds like a good and easy procedure to migrate:

My question is: what happens when I take one disk out of the DNS-323 for the purpose of migrating (as described in above forum link), should I then change the RAID setup or will it run just fine with one disk and RAID1 settings?

If you remove one disk from a RAID1 array in a DNS-323, you should be able to access the data without making any changes to the setup.

RAID1 is for disk redundancy - NOT data backup - don't confuse the two.
