UPnP - Why do I always have to refresh?
« on: October 31, 2009, 04:30:00 PM »

Hi!

Why do I always have to refresh to see new files added to the folder that the UPnP server uses?

I have a 1.5 TB disk so it takes awhile to complete the refresh. I thought addes files automatically would show up on the UPnP server.

I have the same issue.  I add a file or rename a file and the XBOX 360 doesn't pick up the change.  I do a refresh and still nothing...  a couple hours later and I see the changes finally.

I have a similar issues with my PlayStation but to overcome it I do my refresh (which takes at least 10 - 20 minutes ) but once that is complete I reconnect (by way of searching) to my media server.  I'm not sure of the process for XBox but it would be like deleting the connection and re-adding it for the DNS323 connection.  Once I do that I can then see my new media.

On Xbox back out of the DNS-323 media server to the dashboard after the refresh finishes successful then go back into Videos and select the DNS-323 UPnP Media server and the video list should be updated.

ECF, that's a workaround but doesn't answer the question as to why you have to refresh and even if you had to why does it take hours sometimes?
