So I have this router, using the latest firmware. I have no issues with the connection wirelessly anywhere in the house EXCEPT for one bedroom. Maybe the bedroom is built like a tank. I've only had issues with this room.
The router is located downstairs and the bedroom is above it to the side. If I had to put a distance on it, it'll be maybe 20 feet away. When using a wireless connection in the room, the signal reads 3-4 bars at most. Though it'll read that it's connected consistently, the net browsing will lag or will act as if there is no connection some of the times until refresh is hit. Network shared files will not be there as if connection is lost. Again this only happens in that room on any laptop.
I've messed with the settings numerous times. It's definitely not the setting, not the firmware, etc. I've even replaced one of the antennas with an D-link 2.4ghz Omni directional 7dbi indoor antennae. No change.
I'd put the router upstairs but modem connections are only available in bedrooms. My house is built so that running wires up and down the stairs won't be easy with out some kind of expensive indoor rewiring.
So, I'm seeking advice on how to deal with this situation of mine. Is there some kind of access point I can acquire with out it being connected through a wire? A range booster? Ethernet is not an option.. that'll just be pointless on a laptop.
