Just wanted to say thanks to D-Link for a wonderful evening of re-figuring out all of my router settings from scratch after making the mistake of upgrading to the latest firmware.

I'm wondering if this was an actual design decision?   Did someone actually sit in an engineering meeting and say "I think we should make this next firmware rev unable to read older settings files"?  Followed by everyone nodding in agreement, "Yeah, that's a great idea!"  ???

Or, is it a mistake?   A bug?   :-[

Regardless of whether it was a decision (a really BAD decision), or a mistake (an even WORSE mistake), I hope someone gets a lump of coal in their stocking for it this Christmas.    >:(

Hmm, A1 using FW beta 08 earlier this week, didn't have any problems loading my prefs file after the FW update. Any chance ur File could have been corrupted?

I just loaded the beta FW also and didn't have an issue loading mine either. Your file was probably corrupted somehow.

I should have specified versions...   the router was factory original (I believe 1.02) before I upgraded to the latest (1.21NA).   Before upgrading, I saved the settings twice (two different files).  Both files gave the same error when I tried to restore them after upgrading the firmware.

If others haven't experienced the same problem, then there must have been something going on with the router causing it to save the settings corrupted.

What browser are you using to access and save off ur configuration file? So far I've been using Safari, Flock on Mac, and FLock on Windows XP. I would make contact with Lycan and ask him for some advice on this. Need to ensure that the file isn't being corrupted somewhere or the router is accepting the files correctly. One thing we can do if you like to, you could send me or someone else or ask lycan if you can send him your config files and see if they load on a different router. If they don't, means something in the saving process isn't working right. Or if it does work for someone else, could mean the router might have an issue. Just an idea. Can PM me if you want to.
