DIR-655 + Shareport - FIXED THE PROBLEM MYSELF!!!
« on: January 02, 2010, 01:19:24 PM »

My DIR-655 router is unable to recognize my HP 1022 laser printer – since firmware 1.32 NA was applied last month.  Prior to this, it recgnised the printer 100%!  I tried this on two computers equipped with XP Pro + SP 3 and ESET Smart Security 4 (firewall off) - but it doesn't work.

I have spent many hours of my precious time trying to resolve the issue myself, but have been unable. When I installed Shareport Utility V1.10 which is compatible with this firmware update - the printer isn’t recognized.  Also when I tried other versions including V1.14, V1.15 they also didn’t recognize the printer.   The main reason that I bought this router was to use Shareport and now it doesn’t recognize it!

Could you please help resolve this issue asap...

Thank you,

Philip

I understand and feel your pain, this sucks.  I upgraded to the long awaited firmware 133NA in hopes that the new firmware would fix the long and nagging USB port issue.  I am very quickly losing faith in DLINK's ability to support their products.  This problem has been an issue since the release of this piece of plastic with electronic parts that is not quite heavy enough for a boat anchor, however, should suffice as a paper weight and a FIRM-Ware reminder to never buy this junk brand again.

I fixed the problem, please follow these steps:

1.   Uninstalled antivirus software
2.   Uninstalled printer driver
3.   Turned off XP firewall
4.   Installed Shareport V1.10
5.   Installed HP printer
6.   Installed antivirus software
7.   Turned on XP firewall

Shareport v1.10 will work on your PC!
