Problems connecting my DGL-4500 to DSL-G604T
« on: January 08, 2010, 07:33:58 PM »

I currently use DSL-G604T wireless ASDL router, and all is OK. However as I mainly use internet for online gaming I decided to purchase a DGL-4500.
I put the DSL-G604T in bridge mode as is recommended and disabled the DSL-G604T as an access point. Then I tested the G604T via ethernet whilst in bridge mode, all is ok and I can access the internet. Then I connect up the DGL-4500 and it after a minute or so the status on the DGL-4500 for internet says ONLINE. However on my computer I can only access local no internet, when opening browser can not access the internet.
Does anyone know what I am missing. I just want to use the G604T as my modem and DGL-4500 as the wireless router. Surely since both are Dlink products this should be a piece of cake. ????

Problem solved. I just put the G604T into back to original config then put it back into bridge mode again. Save and rebooted modem. Once completed I again logged into G604T and ticked box for manual setting of DHCP to turn off automatic assignment, probably did not need to do this but did it anyway as the DGL-4500 can take care of the DHCP. I reseted the DGL-4500 back to default by depressing the reset button. Then I just put the installation CD into my computer and reinstalled and configured the router following the easy step by step procedure. Upon completion everything was ok and now have access to the internet.

Glad you got it fixed. Just curious what FW and HW version are you using. If you get time, can you post this info here?

And if your 4500 is working well with the current loaded FW, keep it there. The update on the main web site isn't good. There working on new stuff. I hope.
