Is it possible to setup the DGL-4500 for use as a bridge or repeater?

No, the DGL-4500 cannot be used as a wireless repeater.

I would like to use my DGL-4500 as a bridge for my TV and DVD player, is it possible?
D-Link replaced my defective DGL-4500 with a new A2 model, but I don't have any need for it as I replaced it with another brand of wireless router and I am happy with it's performance. No reboots.
If I can't use it as a bridge, I will have to sell it, cheap.

I don't think you can use it as a Bridge either.

A four port switch, yes.

Thanks, That is what I figured, but I just wanted confirmation. I would put it up on eBay, but I don't feel comfortable selling it to someone who doesn't know the problems associated with D-Links products. I just wish that D-Link felt the same way when it comes to their customers.

well IMO, the product was developed for whom ever wanted to put this to market bud, is was designed for a specific reason. Asking for additional features for something that wasn't designed for in the 1st place kinda doesn't make DLink to blame. Maybe they have other products that do bridging and repeating, however Everyone should realize that this router is meant for mostly gaming and internet connections. So some features were tuned for Gaming and might have less features then say a standard router. Not trying to put any one down by this, just gotta know that not all products are designed to do everything. Yes I'm sure other products or some DLink products do it all. There are just some products that have specific designs for specific uses. Sorry that this didn't seem to fit your needs. I would recommend doing some research on your needs and try to find something that will match them. Not all 4500 are for everyone. Why this was put to market as a "Gameing" router. My 2 cents.

I wish you luck in your next adventure.

I didn't buy it to use as a bridge or repeater. It was bought for use as a wired and wireless router with a PC Shareport. The A1 version failed miserably at all it's intended and designed functions. That's why it was replaced with the A2 version. After reading all the posts here, it appears that the A2 is not any better than the A1. I need a reliable interface between all my computers and the internet, I don't have the time or inclination to make this router a full time hobby.
I figured that if I could use it as a wireless bridge for my TV, my $200 investment wouldn't be totally wasted. In the end, it looks like a total write-off. Lesson learned.

D-Link should recall all the DGL-4500's, they have never functioned as advertised. You have to turn off many of it's advertised features just to get it to work for short periods of time before a reboot is necessary.

D-link should man-up and do the right thing. They can start by removing FW ver 1.21NA from this website.
