DIR-615 and Video Monitoring hardware web server setup.
« on: January 28, 2010, 10:17:14 AM »

Hi all D-Link users, i just got new DIR-615 router to use with my video monitoring hardware Q-See "QSD9004", and i cannot figure out how to make them both work together, i sure i forwarding port correctly in router since i try to run FTP and can get connections from internet, but when trying to run web server with QSD9004 hardware it does not work. Maybe someone can take look Quick setup guide - remote monitoring and tell me what i doing wrong please i already trying two day's in a raw and it does not work, i ready to give up on it and buy new router.

Instructions basically say to forward Port 80 and Port 9000 to the IP address of your DVR, You might want to set a static IP because if its DHCP now and the router for some reason decides to give it another IP address then the port forward settings would not apply to the new IP. Also note what kind of modem you have as it is DSL then it might be doing some NAT on its own so basically you could be running NAT back to back so you would have to forward the ports on each device. Also and this applies if you do have a DSL modem that does NAT, just get a small switch and attach that to your modem, then the switch to your 615 and to the DVR, this way the DVR is only behind one NAT.

[modem] --> switch --> 615

Please help cant get it resolved yet.

I did forward both ports and this thing never worked i could not get connections from internet.
DSL MODEM i use with Verison DSL is "Westell 6110" it has no configuration to it, i am not sure if it acts as NAT.

I go for switch solution, could you give me some instruction on how to configure static IP/DHCP to the DVR without using router?

P.S. Could it be problem with router since it dont show name of computer and DVR in configuration menu, but it should as they both setup using DHCP.

Okay the westell 6110 is a bridge modem so there is no configurations you need to set for it. So that just leaves us with the dir-615. Sounds like you already have done what was necessary for port forwarding. I have to point out that I have not had much success with forwarding working correctly with the dir-615 3.11 firmware and this might be what is happening to you.

I still hope dlink is working on a new firmware but there is no confirmation of that.
DD-WRT has beta firmware for the device but I have not tried it because at beta
it might just be as unstable. So its a waiting game right now.
