Well, if the USB emulation was perfect, it would connect to NTFS drives.  FWIW, that Belkin Network USB Hub F5L009 that I mentioned had no issues accessing NTFS formatted USB drives, so it's possible.

NTFS should not matter at all as the SharePort is just a passthrough.... Does it work when directly connected to that PC without the need to format?

I conencted a USB hard drive to the shareport and i can see it with the shareport utility on my PC, but when i try to connect to it, it says i have to format the drive.. do you know why? is it because its NTFS

I currently have a USB/S-ATA/P-ATA interface plugged into the USB port and an old laptop drive plugged into that - it's NTFS formatted and I can access it with no difficulty from a Win7Pro system on the network.

Will there ever be plans to allow the software to directly copy from DNS to USB HDD? I havent ffp'd my DNS.  Perhaps its time.

This is the Shareport "server app" that needs to be installed on the DNS-323.

Thanks for clarification.......

I had downloaded both of those just before my last post, and was hoping there might be some explanation of what each one did.  But I just checked and saw there isn't any.

Is the DNS-323 package compatible with version 1.07, or should I upgrade first to 1.09.  I have that sitting in the wings in case I need it.

Hello everybody, hi my name is Jose. I am from Spain, so please, be patient with my english.
I have just installed SharePort in my DNS-323 and it is playing. Also I have installed the SharePort Utility in my brandnew MacMini (with Mac OSX Lion).
After all, I can see in the application that my device is recognize and connected.
But here is the problem I can not see it anywhere.
If I open Finder I only see my NAS (DNS-323), but I can not see the device anywhere.
There is a way to see it? It could be a problem with the File System Format?
Please if someone have a Mac, could you tell how you did it?
