New some help with configuring 2 wan interfaces
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:40:01 AM »

Hi all.

My first post after reading forums a bit.

I have old ISP connection on WAN1 with SAT port forwarding and everything works.

Now we have got new ISP which I have connected to WAN2.

I have created similar config like in thread here http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=9104.0 but the problem is that now we are surfing the Internet via WAN2, WAN1 port forwarding is working like it should but port forwarding on WAN2 is not working at all.

So now I have 2 routing tables, main which has default gw for WAN2 and the second one in which WAN1 has default gw. Then I have also one routing rule like it is written bellow

Name: drawkcaB
Forward Table: main
Return Table: drawkcaB
Service: all-services
Source Interface: WAN1
Source Network: all-nets
Destination Interface: core
Destination Network: wan1_IP

Any hint what am I doing wrong would be appreciated.

The reason why I would like to have same ports on both interfaces forwarded is that I don't have to wait for DNS to be updated over all world so that the WAN1 IP is not active but only WAN2.

Tnx

Well, I know that you had contact either direct or indirect with a particular TS agent.  drawkcaB is a telling sign.

You have the difficult part working your secondary (WAN1) WAN is working, meaning the routing rule works.  Ensure your IP rules allow WAN2.

Tnx for the tip, I got it working now.

Now one extra question. I got segment of 6 ip addresses on WAN2 that I can use. The first one is used for gateway directly on modem, the second one is address of WAN2 and now I would like to use the rest for other things that I have, like voip and so on.

I tried with port forwarding on the same principle like with WAN2 but it doesn't work. Can you point me what am I doing wrong or what I should do?

Tnx

To do port forwards, you are going to have to ensure that that traffic is directed at your DFL, and from there to it's core interface.

Add an ARP publish for that IP.
Add a route to interface core, with that IP as the network, metric of 0.

Hello Fatman :)

I have one question. Everything above works like it should, port forwarding and routing and everything.

The question that I have is: is there any way to use one of five IP addresses that I have as external one for single machine, so that one machine is going to have all internal and external traffic on that IP assigned to itself? When I forward all protocols all traffic incoming to that IP is forwarded correctly but machine is showing on the internet with the first IP of the wan2 and I would like to have it on the net with one of the other IP addresses that I have assigned because of UDP communication that is not working right now.

Tnx for help.

Regards

All you need is a NAT rule before your allow standard which looks like your allow standard but has a source net of that PCs IP and on the NAT tab you specify it's WAN IP that you want to use.

that was the first thing that I tried but without any success, after this I don't have any internet access on that machine

Make ARP publish on WAN for your additional address and add route to this address to core

tnx for reply

I have those configured exactly like that, otherwise port forwarding from outside to host inside wouldn't work

So I have arp publish for that ip on if wan2, I have route on core with that ip but nat with other ip is not working.

Check logs - when you try to access, what you can find in logs?

Maybe, you need to check your alt table and PBR for wan2?
